Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American performer, actress, and songwriter for many years. Sara Ramirez was brought up by her American mother and was subjected to a variety of racist taunts that made her feel unwelcome. As she entered the 9th grade she started to feel more secure after being acknowledged by her teachers as a success for her performance at school's audition. The event not only helped her gain confidence but changed the direction she was heading in her the future. When she was 22 she was a graduate of New York's Julliard School. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was titled You've got Mail. The part in The Lady of The Lake is her greatest breakthrough, bringing her an award called the Tony Award in addition to critical acclaim for her role. In the following year, when she was Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC the show, she received more appreciation. As a well-known singer, she has also recorded songs and plays. In addition, she has spoken out in support of LGBT concerns.
